CANADA’S FIRST REGISTERED INN TURNS 100

Gray Rocks invites guests to join in on celebrating the legendary resort’s birthday with the specially priced “Centennial Celebration” package

MONT TREMBLANT, Quebec, April 17, 2006 – The renowned Gray Rocks resort located in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec is celebrating a landmark year this year with its one hundred year birthday. Founded in 1906 by George Wheeler, Gray Rocks was not only the very first registered inn in Canada, but also the first resort to be built in what would one day become the world renowned Mont Tremblant Resort.

To celebrate its one hundred-year birthday, Gray Rocks is offering a special “Centennial Celebration” package throughout the summer. Available from May 19-July 1, 2006, the “Centennial Celebration” package includes one night of accommodation, gourmet dinner in the resort’s Dining Room, breakfast, and all Gray Rocks programs and activities. The inclusive package starts at an appropriate $100 per person for hotel accommodation. Visitors can also take advantage of a special rate of $50 per person for condo accommodation (based on quadruple occupancy). Meals not included in condominium accommodation.

Set at the foot of Mont Tremblant beside the peaceful Lake Ouimet, the humble beginnings of “Gray Rocks Inn” started as the dream home of avid skier and outdoor enthusiast George Wheeler and his wife. George, an American from New York who first came to the area as a forestry executive, fell in love with the Laurentians and together with his wife entertained scores of visitors from all over. Word spread and “Gray Rocks Inn” rapidly grew in popularity as more and more discovered the magic and the beauty of the region.

Today, the 105-room, 50-condominium legendary Gray Rocks has become synonymous with summer family vacations and rejuvenating getaways. Gourmet dining, first-class hospitality, luxurious accommodation, and a wealth of activities for all ages and interests brings back guests season after season and year after year. Summer at the resort is all about fun with two championship courses, La Belle, one of Canada’s oldest golf courses, and the award-winning La Bete designed by esteemed golf course designer Graham Cooke, two sports academies and pro shops, private beach and marina, biking, hiking, horseback riding, and 22 Har-Tru tennis courts and one the country’s best tennis academies.
